The effects of COVID-19 on the events industry
It's safe to say 2020 has been a difficult year for many, with industries and companies that were thriving before the pandemic, faced significant revenue losses, and unfortunately were forced to lay off portions of their staff.
The events industry was hit tremendously, with all live events, conferences, concerts, workshops, and shows being cancelled due to government guidelines and restrictions, leaving companies fighting for survival.
Thankfully, with the rise of zoom for many companies, social communications were held online through virtual platforms. This has allowed companies to host most of their events online, showcasing their services virtually.
Like many others, we were hosting our The Roundabouts events weekly, which was a great way to connect with like-minded people in the industry sharing knowledge within specific software engineering and technology delivery areas, solving these common known problems, and attendees bringing these solutions into their own workplaces. Sadly, our events had to come to a halt. But, our amazing team didn't want to see all the success from our Roundabouts come to an end so we decided to host our events online.
We started streaming our live and free events on YouTube, available for anyone to watch. We have had some amazing industry experienced speakers, from several different companies with a variety of topics discussed. A year has passed, and we haven't finished what we started.
We saw an opportunity, we took it, and we won't stop providing our community with the best possible events, constantly improving and tailoring them to your needs.
